A hydraulic cylinder is a mechnical actuator that gives a unidirectional force through a unidirecdtinal stroke. Hydraulic Lift Cylinders are used for lifting the boom,bucket arm, blade, and other attachments. Typically they are usded for pushing, pulling, or lifting something that requires exceptional force.

CAT 320C, 324 Bucket Cylinder Assembly – Complete Replacement Unit
This bucket (crowd) cylinder assembly brings strong, controlled bucket curl back to your CAT 320C, 324. Everything is supplied assembled — barrel, chromed rod, piston, gland and seals — so installation is a simple swap.
Because the bucket ram sits closest to the work, it is the cylinder most often damaged — a bent or pitted rod will keep tearing seals until the whole unit is replaced. A complete replacement avoids the wait for a workshop rebuild and gets you back on the job sooner.
